Marina completed her undergraduate studies at the Department of Psychology of the University of Crete, following which she gained hands-on professional experience during her placement at the Community Centre for Mental Health of the Psychiatric Hospital of Thessaloniki. She continued her studies by attending the postgraduate course in Clinical Mental Health at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In terms of psychotherapy qualifications, Marina has been trained in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). She was certified by IEDTA (International Experiential Developmental Therapy Association) and has attended seminars for group and cognitive-behavioural psychotherapy. She maintains an ongoing presence in seminars and conventions, relevant both to her core training as well as her other interests in the field (psychometric tools, psychology of addictions, psychodynamic approaches to addiction).
As a professional therapist, Marina practises psychotherapy privately, mainly with adults but also with adolescents, either in person or online, offering sessions in Greek as well as in English. She also contributes as a guest assistant trainer in the Greek ISTDP training course, and currently serves as President of the Greek ISTDP Association for the 2025-2029 term. Since 2020 she maintains a private practice in central Thessaloniki.
Marina previously worked as a psychologist at Armonia Rehabilitation Centre (Thessaloniki, Greece), as well as the Pelion YMCA Summer Camp facilities. She has also worked at Anatoli Day Centre as resident psychologist and head psychologist of the adult psychosocial support programme. She has done voluntary work for mental health institutions, participating in the ARGO programme (Alternative Therapy Programme for Addictions) and offering psychosocial support and serving as self-help team coordinator at the Rethemnon Centre for Mental Health, in Crete.
